As expected, earlier this month, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made good on his promise to veto legislation increasing the state minimum wage to $15 per hour. The bill would have allowed the minimum wage, currently $8.25 an hour, to increase to $10.10 on January 1 and then by $1.25 for each of the subsequent 5 years.  Just 2 years ago, New Jersey voters passed an amendment to their constitution increasing the minimum wage and tethering it to the CPI.  That wasn’t enough for legislators however as they are now looking at putting it back on the ballot again.
