It may make absolutely no sense to anyone trying to run a business successfully, but the latest push for scheduling mandates or “predictive scheduling” seems to be growing in popularity across the country.  San Francisco already requires covered employers to provide employees with their work schedules two weeks in advance and mandates “predictability pay” if that schedule is changed within 7 days.  The issue is also pending in Washington DC where it will likely go on the November ballot and 9 states around the nation have some form of scheduling mandate legislation pending.  Bills have been filed and are being pushed aggressively in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota and Oregon.  Clearly, this issue is not limited to any geographic area of the country and it will be the next big push.  We all need to get ahead of this issue!
