The McDonald’s Corporation, the world’s largest restaurant company, said global sales rose 6.9 percent in April, topping analysts’ estimates, as consumers bought more coffee drinks and chicken snack wraps.

Sales at domestic restaurants open at least 13 months climbed 6.1 percent, while European orders increased 8.4 percent, McDonald’s said. Sales in Asia, the Middle East and Africa gained 6.5 percent. Big Macs, Quarter Pounders and French fries lifted American sales, in addition to demand for chicken wraps and McCafe espresso-based drinks, the company said.
