Last week, we advised of a research team from Oxford advocating new hefty taxes on meat as a way to force people to cut down on eating meat. This week from across the pond, it gets even more bizarre as a UK-based group, Action on Sugar, wants the government to ban high-calorie milkshakes! Associated with Queen Mary University in London, the group wants to ban the sale of milkshakes with more than 300 calories per serving and require “traffic light” labeling on the rest. The group specifically pointed an accusatory finger at Five Guys, McDonald’s and TGI Fridays. Too much time on their hands!
