Notwithstanding constitutional and other issues with SBA programs designed to assist small businesses recovering from the coronavirus pandemic, some states are successfully launching assistance programs. New York is one example as the Cuomo administration announced the Small Business Pandemic Recovery Program last week and began accepting applications on June 10. The application process, which will only be available through July 2, is open to businesses with less than 100 employees that have not received RRF funding from the SBA. More information is available here, but applicants should be aware that decisions on awarding grants will consider the type of business as well as the location and the industry in which it is engaged, rather first-come, first-served. Grant amounts are contingent upon gross receipts and will range from $5,000 to $50,000.
