California State AssemblyOur latest information is that the fair franchising legislation (SB 610) close to final enactment in the California Assembly could come up for a vote as soon as next week.  In fact, the IFA, which has been working hard to defeat this bill which will help restore a small bit of balance to the franchisor/franchisee relationship, is mobilizing to get as many of its franchisor members to visit the Assembly next week to lobby against final passage of the proposal.  The various provisions of SB 610 would mandate “good faith and fair dealing” and protect a franchisee’s right to sell his business as well as prohibit unfair terminations.  We again encourage all franchise owners to contact California legislators and urge a yes vote on SB 610!
