The US Supreme Judicial Court heard arguments this week on the issue of tax credits being utilized in the Affordable Care Act.  The issue stems from language in the health care law (“We have to pass the health care bill so we can find out what’s in it.” – then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi) that authorizes a tax credit for consumers who purchase health insurance through a state-run health exchange.  The government has been allowing tax credits for those who have purchased their coverage from the federal exchange in those states which have not created their own exchanges and opponents have challenged them in court.  It is believed that this challenge (King v Burwell) could be a death knell for the Obama Care law.   A decision on the challenge is not expected until late June or July.
