On the subject of the “joint employer” issue, a host of national business groups have joined forces to create the “Coalition to Save Local Businesses”.  The coalition was announced this week in Washington, DC. and is comprised of  the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Restaurant Association, the National Retail Federation, the Coalition of Franchisee Associations, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the International Franchise Association, the National Council of Chain Restaurants, and the National Federation of Independent Business.  It will initially focus efforts on lobbying Congress to rein in the NLRB and to preserve the existing definition of “joint employer”.
