Panera announced last month that it was introducing a new drink cup with a base that pops off and can be used as a charging base for a cell phone. The launch ties in with new Charged Lemonade drinks introduced earlier in the spring that are made with plant-based caffeine. They are part of the company’s new $10.99 per month beverage subscription. And in the coffee space, we noted that Tim Hortons unveiled two of its own next generation restaurant models last month. One of the models is 900 square foot drive-thru only store integrated with the company’s mobile app and including mobile order parking spots. The second of the next generation prototypes sounds more like the old generation with 24 seats inside a 1,600 square foot restaurant.
