At its recent annual stockholders meeting, Starbucks announced that it had expanded its food selections and grown the category of the years, with revenue from food increasing 15 percent from 2016 to 2017 and 1.5 times since 2013. Further, they plan to double food sales, which now account for 21 percent of US sales, by 2021. The company points to its Princi bakery as one vehicle by which it hopes to continue that expansion of its food options. Panera Bread this week acknowledged that customer records for individuals who signed up on the Panera website were breached, a breach that was originally reported by cyber web security firm, KrebsOnSecurity. The company claims that the security flaw, which has since been resolved, only affected 10,000 customers.
