USHR13-Education-and-the-Workforce-CommitteeThe US House of Representatives Education and Workforce Committee on Tuesday of this week held a public hearing over the issue of the NLRB Office of the General Counsel ruling that defines franchisor’s as “joint-employers” with the individual franchise owners.   Witnesses testifying at the hearing, which can be viewed in its entirety here, included a franchisor (who also serves on the IFA Board), 2 franchisees from different industries (1 representing IFA, another representing AAHOA) and a college professor/personal injury attorney (who is also an Administrative Law Judge with the NLRB) as well as another attorney who specializes in union organizing and union elections.  The hearing may be quite enlightening for those of you who share our strong concerns on the potential devastation of the revised joint-employer definition.
