Our attorney friends at Murtha Culina have advised us that additional changes are in store for businesses in Connecticut as the legislature there has authorized changes in the state’s mandatory paid sick leave law effective January 1, but with the first week of October being an important timeframe as well.  There is a 50 employee minimum that determines the applicability of the law, but employers are required to make their determination as to whether they are covered by the mandate during the week containing October 1 as opposed to the previous year’s quarters, which was formerly the case.  Although October 1 is still just over one month away, we wanted to give you early warning of the new requirement.
