Initiative 77, a Washington DC initiative that was passed by voters in the Nation’s Capital back in June is again back before the DC City Council, where a majority of members oppose the measure. City Councilors are now seriously considering repealing the measure and the city council’s Committee on the Whole will hold a public hearing on that notion on Monday, September 17 in council chambers.  As approved by voters, Initiative 77 would eliminate the lower tipped wage over the course of the next 8 years and raise the minimum wage, including that of currently tipped workers, within DC to $15 an hour by 2026.
