Speaking of the doubling of the white collar overtime exemption, we would remind all of our subscribers that the Department of Labor has called for public comments on potential changes to the Obama administration’s overtime rule that increased the threshold from $23,660 to $47,476. That request for public comment published in the Federal Register is the first step in the agency plan to revise overtime regulations. DOL also asked that employers explain how they prepared for the rule to take effect before it was enjoined by the federal court in Texas and whether there are unique challenges for small businesses that should be taken into account. This is a great opportunity to make your voices heard! Comments are due by September 25 and can be filed electronically through Regulations.gov.
