Congratulations are again in order to Dunkin’ for winning the PETA 2019 “Libby” Award as the Most Vegan-Friendly Restaurant Chain. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recognized Dunkin’ for its Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich which can be made 100% vegan when ordered without the cheese and egg (wouldn’t that make it a salad?). Baskin-Robbins also won a “Libby” (the name comes from “animal liberation”) this year as the Best Vegan Ice Cream for its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor. This is the 14th year that PETA has given awards in recognition of companies helping animals and the environment with vegan offerings. And on another note, Dunkin’ came in a solid 2nd in US systemwide sales by the Nation’s Restaurant News in their recent Top 200 Restaurants report in the Beverage-Snack chain category. Dunkin’ with $8.8 Billion in sales trailed only Starbucks ($20.5 B sales), while Baskin finished in 4th with just under $605 million.
