Congratulations are again in order to Dunkin’ for winning the PETA 2019 “Libby” Award as the Most Vegan-Friendly Restaurant Chain. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recognized Dunkin’ for its Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich which can be made 100% vegan when ordered without the cheese and egg (wouldn’t that make it a salad?). Baskin-Robbins also won a “Libby” (the name comes from “animal liberation”) this year as the Best Vegan Ice Cream for its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor. This is the 14^th year that PETA has given awards in recognition of companies helping animals and the environment with vegan offerings. And on another note, Dunkin’ came in a solid 2^nd in US systemwide sales by the Nation’s Restaurant News in their recent Top 200 Restaurants report in the Beverage-Snack chain category. Dunkin’ with $8.8 Billion in sales trailed only Starbucks ($20.5 B sales), while Baskin finished in 4^th with just under $605 million.
