Our DDIFO Restaurant Analyst, John Gordon of Pacific Management Consulting Group, picked up on some interesting points in an article ostensibly on Starbucks and the comeback of coffee sales from the pandemic (judging by the headline) that also unofficially showed number of visits per month to Dunkin’ rising and outperforming both Starbucks and Panera for the year! In fact, according to the data by Placer, a retail sales data monitoring company, June visits to Starbucks and Panera were still down (3.1% and 7.6% respectively) while Dunkin’ had already recovered and gone positive back in April with May up 6.2% and June hitting a positive 7.9%! We also noted that former Dunkin CEO David Hoffmann has joined the Board of Directors for Mammoth Holdings, an Atlanta-based conveyor car wash operator with 63 locations currently operating mostly throughout the South. And finally, we noted that Dunkin continues to hold onto the #7 spot in the QSR 50, the annual listing produced by QSR Magazine of the 50 biggest brands in the fast-food industry.
