Ike Wilson reports in the Frederick News Post that workers put the finishing touches on a new Dunkin’ Donuts franchise Monday for a Wednesday opening. The store is at 2198 Old Farm Drive in Frederick , MD, across from Fort Detrick.
“We’re excited,” sales associate Ian Villacress said. “There will be another business in this area and with all the houses around here, we hope to be busy.”
Dunkin’ Donuts general manager Nick Patel said the business is one of three owned by four partners.
Two stores are in Urbana and Hagerstown. Kaushik Govani owns the Frederick shop.
“People needed something other than McDonald’s in this area, and with our drive-through window, we expect to be a regular destination for people,” Patel said.
Frederick resident Gary Pierce applied for a job at the store Monday. He wants to be one of about 45 employees in the three-store franchise.
“I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I really need a job,” Pierce said. “I hope they call me because times are tough.”
Grand opening treats consist of a free medium coffee Wednesday through Saturday. The Frederick store will raise money for Fighting for The Cure on behalf of Dillon Papier, a 5-year-old boy stricken by Niemann-Pick Disease Type C, a rare genetic metabolic disorder that is fatal.
From Wednesday to Saturday, a dollar will be donated from each purchase toward the fund, Patel said.
