Chattanooga.com reports that Dunkin Donuts is back at its location across from Northgate Mall on Highway 153 with a wide pastry assortment and coffee selection. The grand opening and ribbon cutting at the Hixson location will be Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. and the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will make arrangements for the event.

The new 1,800 square foot Dunkin Donuts at 5311 Highway 153 will have a drive-through window and will serve its famous coffee, all-day sandwiches, doughnuts and other baked goods.

It has been four years since Dunkin Donuts was in Chattanooga, but now franchisee and Bluemont group president Dave Baumgartner of Knoxville is bringing this brand back. Baumgartner also has plans to open a location in Cleveland, Ft. Oglethorpe and Ooltewah.
“We are hoping to build as many as the market will support,” said Mr. Baumgartner, whose wife Karen, co-manages the operation.

In previous years, four Dunkin Donuts locations were set-up in Chattanooga but the franchise owners decided not to renew their contracts.

Mr. Baumgartner said, “Dunkin’ is in a major expansion mode, and I was excited about participating in their growth and where they are growing.”

He said the brand is recession-friendly and therefore plans to hire 40 to 50 workers for the location.

Karen Baumgartner said, “Dunkin’ is glad to return to the Chattanooga scene and encourage all to come in for breakfast, lunch or a quick donut and coffee break.”
