Dunkin’ Donuts will offer customers a free Turbo shot with all iced coffee purchases through June 2 at participating shops throughout Massachusetts, Maine and southern New Hampshire.
“Just as Dustin Pedroia provides a spark for the Red Sox, the Dunkin’ Donuts Turbo Boost promotion will provide a spark to our customers and help keep them running with free espresso shots on medium, large and extra large iced coffee purchases,” said Tom Manchester, Dunkin’ Donuts director of field marketing for the Northeast.
In the new Dunkin’ Donuts television commercial entitled, “Dustin and Goliath,” Pedroia is faced with the challenge of a pinstriped giant on a biblical baseball field. Inspired by the story of David and Goliath, Pedroia takes a sip of his Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee with a shot of espresso and takes down the giant with a ball hit off the mighty swing of his bat. The ad was created by Boston-based Hill Holliday and will begin airing today.
Dunkin’ Donuts has a history of working with Boston sports icons, including Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon, general manager Theo Epstein and former Red Sox players Curt Schilling and Johnny Damon as well as New England Patriots players Tom Brady, Tedy Bruschi, Richard Seymour and former Patriots star Troy Brown.
To help launch the promotion, Fenway Park will host the Dunkin’ Donuts Red Sox Turbo Shot Coffee Break on April 24.
Boston-area radio contest winners will get to have breakfast featuring Dunkin’ Donuts menu items at Fenway Park’s State Street Pavilion with Pedroia and Red Sox manager Terry Francona. NESN’s Tom Caron will moderate a question-and-answer session with Pedroia and Francona. Afterward, winners will get a private tour of Fenway Park.
