E-Verify, the web-based software system for confirming employment eligibility, has announced the schedule of instructional webinars that will be available to employers through the end of November. The webinars provide instructions on employee rights as well as employer responsibilities in addition to refresher programs for existing users and I-9 overview and completion webinars. E-Verify is a program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is administered by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services along with the Social Security Administration (SSA). And one final update, we advised you last week that the current version of the I-9 (expiration date of 10/31/2022) will remain valid going forward until a new form is released. And finally, I-9 flexibility for remote workers is being extended again – through July 31, 2023. It appears however, that this flexibility will only apply to safety precautions due to COVID-19. The I-9 flexibility was set to expire on October 31, but the extension now appears to apply only to employees who are working exclusively and alone in remote settings, whether or not their co-workers work remotely.
