For the first time since 2014, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has no vacancies to be filled on its 5-member Board. This week, the US Senate confirmed the remaining nominees – 2 republican members and 1 democratic nominee thereby putting the agency at full capacity. On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed the two republican nominees, Gibson Dunn attorney Andrea Lucas as well as former acting administrator of the DOL Wage and Hour Division Keith Sonderling. Later Wednesday evening, Senators finished their EEOC work, confirming civil rights attorney Jocelyn Samuels, director of the LGBTQ legal institute at UCLA School of Law to the remaining democratic commissioner post. They join chairwoman Janet Dhillon and democratic holdover Commissioner Victoria Lipnic, who continues to serve until President Trump nominates a replacement.
