We’ll let the major media talking heads comment on most of the big races and results across the country from Tuesday’s midterm elections while we highlight some of the issues and results that might be of greater concern to franchisees and other small business owners. That said, we note that once again, the results were anything but what the polls suggested they would be. In the wake of the red wave that didn’t occur, we’ll also point out the addition of four more democrat trifecta states (both legislative branches and the governor from the same party) with democrat Maura Healey winning the race for governor in Massachusetts to go with the existing democratic legislature; the same situation held true in Maryland with democrat Wes Moore succeeding term-limited republican Larry Hogan; then Michigan voters flipped the republican legislature with democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer winning reelection and the Minnesota Senate was turned blue by voters to go with a democrat-farmer-labor party majority in the House and democrat Tim Walz reelected to the corner office. A republican trifecta is still possible in Arizona depending on the final outcome of the governor’s race.
