In response to republican efforts to reach a compromise on his Obamacare proposal, President Barack Obama famously declared that “Elections have consequences, I won!” Well, against that backdrop we would hasten to publicize a promise we heard from one of the democratic presidential candidates at the debate earlier this week. In his opening statement, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said “When I am president, we will even up the score. We will tax the hell out of the wealthy to make this a fairer country.” Although that should be enough, you should also be aware that on Monday, the Mayor unveiled his “workers’ bill of rights” platform, which included 2 weeks paid time off for all employees, a national $15 minimum wage and “just cause termination” which would replace “at will” employment and require the employer to prove there is a valid reason for terminating an employee. Elections do have consequences!!!
