Speaking of deadlines, and I realize that we reported this to you last week, but with the deadline of October 1 rapidly approaching, I thought it might be helpful to remind you again that by October 1, small and medium-sized businesses must be in compliance for accepting chip-enable credit card payments or face major legal and financial penalties.  Those not in compliance could find themselves liable for fraudulent transactions.  Notwithstanding that more than half of consumers do not even have EMV chip-enabled cards, non-compliance may end up costing unsuspecting retailers significantly.
