Menu labeling, initially passed into law as part of ObamaCare back in January of 2010, has yet to be implemented, but the latest iteration was released last week by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This latest final version is slated to become effective on May 7, 2018 and its purpose is largely to provide clarity on menu labeling and allow for some flexibility by the industry in complying with labeling requirements. With the release of the draft guidance on November 7, the 60-day comment period began and will remain open until January 8, 2018. Summary information on the regulation (docket number FDA-2011-F-0172) is available on the government regulation site where those with concerns or suggestions can also comment directly.
