The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revised and updated its definition of healthy as relates the nutritional contents of packaged foods.  In a guidance issued last week, the agency seeks to first reconcile the parameters of “healthy” with its own new Nutrition Facts Panel rule that was adopted in May. The new definition is largely the first in a number of steps the FDA will be taking to reconcile “healthy” with changes in public health recommendations for various nutrients.  Ultimately, they will formally write and adopt a new rule governing enforcement measures regarding “healthy” packaged foods.  Now, don’t you feel safer knowing that the FDA is on top of this issue??
