As much as Congress is moving to get GMO labeling on the books as quickly as possible, federally required menu labeling has been officially put on a much slower track.  The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last week formally delayed enforcement of the new requirement until one year after it releases its final guidance on the mandate.  At this juncture, it is anyone’s guess when that final guidance will actually be published, but with the Obama administration being in its last year, many anticipate it will be issued sometime this year.  The mandatory menu labeling requirement was originally to become effective on December 1, 2016.
