Florida Governor Rick Scott is looking to push through additional tax cuts for businesses in the Sunshine State as well. Scott has long let it be known that he wants additional cuts made to state taxes and has even filed legislation to do away with the state income tax. Now, he’s proposed a broad array of business tax cuts centered on jobs production and economic development. The Florida legislature, which convenes this week for their 60-day 2016 session however, is reluctant to approve the $1 billion in tax cuts the Governor’s proposals would yield in the aggregate. Florida enjoyed a surplus last fiscal year of just under $1 billion and Scott has been pushing to return that money to taxpayers.
