The owner of a Pawtucket Dunkin’ Donuts has apologized after he allegedly told a worker to speak English only on the job.
A female employee, who did not want to be identified, works at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Mineral Spring Avenue.
She claims she felt humiliated after her boss told her not to speak in Spanish on the job when he’d overheard her on the telephone with her sister.
The owner says he encourages workers to speak English only on the job, but doesn’t force them.
The employee was going to file a complaint with the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights. Her sister said she decided against it once the store owner apologized.
