The New York Post reports that this flame-engulfed Dunkin’ Donuts in The Bronx is among 14 businesses that were gutted early yesterday by a fast-moving fire that sent plumes of smoke into the night sky.
The massive, five-alarm blaze took 200 firefighters more than four hours to put out as it spread down Bainbridge Avenue in the Bedford Park section at 4 a.m.
Amazingly, no civilians were injured. Four firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
Among the destroyed businesses was The Bainbridge Bakery, which was about to reopen after it was rebuilt from a previous store fire in April.
Seth Gottfried”They were set to reopen on Monday,” says Carlo Mirando, 40, a Bronx resident. “But they couldn’t get insurance until it opened.”
Now they won’t get that chance.
The origin of the fire is still under investigation.
