Speaking of the NLRB wreaking havoc, Congress is fully aware of it as well. A subcommittee of the US House Committee on Education and the Workforce (Representative Virginia Foxx, who chairs the committee, will be a keynote speaker at the CFA Lobby Day Forum – see below) wants to reign in the NLRB as quickly as possible. The subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor & Pensions, chaired by Representative Tim Walberg (R-MI), convened a hearing this week entitled “Restoring Balance and Fairness to the National Labor Relations Board”. Witnesses, including franchise owners, right to work advocates and labor attorneys, testified to the hardships created by excessive NLRB rulings on such rulings as the new joint employer standards, the ambush election rule and another egregious decision – unionizing graduate students. Congress is moving legislation to undo several of these NLRB decisions, so stay tuned . . .
