We reported months ago how at its 2013 DC Summit in July, the Coalition of Franchisee Associations (CFA) had encouraged the passage of the Forty Hours Is Full Time Act proposed by Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) and others. Well, the International Franchise Association (IFA) has now joined the fray and at their annual DC Fly-in last week, was pushing passage of the same legislation. Their effort at lobbying Congress was written about in Associations Now magazine. Simply put, the bill will standardize the full time work week as consisting of 40 hours. You will recall that the Affordable Care Act currently establishes 30 hours as the weekly threshold for full-time employment. While they continue to fight fairness in franchising, we’re glad to have the IFA on the right side on this issue!
