Speaking of lawsuits and court decisions, the lawsuit initiated last year by the International Franchise Association (IFA) in the wake of Seattle passing a new $15 minimum wage law suffered a major defeat when the US District Court in Seattle rejected all of the IFA arguments and refused to enjoin the law, which will take effect on April 1.  The suit asked the court to impose a temporary injunction against the law, which treats franchise businesses differently than other local business solely because they are part of a franchise.  Later in the week, the IFA announced they would appeal the decision to the US Appeals Court for the Ninth District.
