In their recent newsletter, the IFA boasted of having had Matt Haller and Dean Heyl travel to Harrisburg, PA. to begin work against HB 1620, which would provide some balance to the franchisee/franchisor relationship. They are working to build a coalition against the bill, filed by Representative Peter Daley. In the newsletter, they allege the bill “would unravel the franchise industry . . .” and further claim passage would lead to “undermining existing franchise contracts and curtail future franchise development in the state.” It is anticipated the bill, which was referred to the House Committee on Consumer Affairs in July, will be the subject of a public hearing before year-end. DDIFO will be working with the CFA and others on the bill and in anticipation of a public hearing, would ask PA franchisees to contact us about working to pass fair franchising legislation in the Keystone state!
