Although all the media covered the strike for $15 an hour by fast food workers in major cities across the country, opponents of the increase rallied in opposition on Wednesday as well.  New York state is now the epicenter for much of the effort with Governor Andrew Cuomo being a major participant.  This week, Cuomo announced that he will be increasing the minimum paid for all state workers to $15/hour – and that he’ll do it by executive fiat!  Opposition to the increase has grown dramatically since the Cuomo announcement.  The Empire Center, a New York based think tank, released a study last week showing the Cuomo increase will cost the state as many as 200,000 jobs by 2021.
