This October, DDIFO is hosting the annual National Conference at the famed Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. In anticipation of the visit, we are highlighting some of the features at Opryland.

SoundWaves, the new four-acre, three-level indoor/outdoor water attraction attached to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, is what you might call an “upscale waterpark.” It is described as “unexpected aquatic attraction for hotel guests that unites extraordinary environments, exclusive upscale amenities, relaxing water features with energetic rides, immersive music and an extraordinary oasis for people of all ages to enjoy.”

In other words, this isn’t your father’s waterpark.

The massive park broke ground in January of 2017. The indoor portion opened in December of 2018 with the outdoor portion following in May of 2019.

The inside park offers 110,000 square feet of balmy bliss. The temperature is set at 84 degrees year-round and dons a roof that allows guests to sunbathe year-round. And there are attractions to satisfy everyone, from the adventure-seeker to the couch potato, and all those in between.

There are fast raft rides, lazy river rides, body slides, activity pools, splash pads and waves to surf. And for those who simply want to relax and watch the action, SoundWaves has plenty of private cabanas to rent.

The outdoor area, at 106,000 square feet is just a bit smaller than its indoor counterpart but offers just as much fun and serenity.

In this area, which is open daily starting in mid-May through Labor Day, and then on weekends through September, guests will find drop slides, a wave pool (with a 37-foot wide LED screen showing music videos), a waterslide race pool, a play structure, private cabanas and an adults-only pool.

And then, there is the music. After all, this is Music City and what would a water attraction here be without some music?

SoundWaves has multiple music zones that features country, pop and classic rock artists to fuse water and music, and guests can enjoy live music on the Decibels restaurant patio during the warm months.

Admission to SoundWaves is guaranteed only with the exclusive SoundWaves Water Experience overnight package at Opryland. What’s more, capacity is capped to ensure it never gets over-crowded and to guarantee a more enjoyable experience for the guests.

Other perks include exclusive check-in at the Magnolia lobby, baggage storage for early arrival, and early access to Soundwaves on the day of arrival, as well as use of the daily hotel shuttle to and from downtown Nashville for those who can pull themselves out of the water and want to explore the city.
