I had to read it a couple of times to be sure I got it right, but unfortunately, I had.  The state of Kentucky, home of GOP Presidential Candidate Senator Rand Paul and US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, became the latest to mandate arbitrary $10.10/hour minimum wage for some of its employees!  Governor Steve Beshear of Kentucky this week signed an Executive Order mandating that all state employees must be paid a minimum of $10.10/hour effective July 1 and further that those companies with state contracts must also pay the higher minimum wage or forfeit their contract.  As with other states, the order only applies to state workers, but it serves (quite effectively) as a means to keep the issue in the political forefront and continue the drumbeat of increasing the wage to a politically chosen amount, regardless of the value of any work being done.
