The Massachusetts legislature next week will host a public hearing at which DDIFO will testify strongly in support on one bill and just as strongly in opposition to another.  The joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development will host the hearing beginning at 11:30 AM, at which it will take testimony on H.1704, an Act Relative to the Pooling of Tips as well as S.973, An Act Establishing Fair Scheduling for Employees in the Commonwealth.  H.1704 would clarify the law relative to those eligible to participate in tip polls, specifically regarding QSRs.  On the other end of the spectrum, S.973 would require that fast food and/or retail employers pay a premium of between one and four hours additional pay to a worker whose schedule changes with 14 days of a scheduled shift.  The hearing will be held in Room A-2 between 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM next Wednesday, October 13.
