Members with stores in the Bay State are reminded that the state’s mandatory Paid Sick Leave law goes into effect on July 1.  The bill mandates that all employees who work in the state, whether full-time, part-time or temporary are entitled to earn and use up to 40 hours of sick leave per calendar year.  One hour of sick time is accrued for every 30 hours worked and those who work for a company with 11 or more employees may earn and use up to 40 hours paid leave, while employers with fewer than 11 employees must provide unpaid sick time.
