Speculation is increasing that after deleting Obama era regulations with the CRA, the Trump administration may next look to streamline government. According to a Bloomberg report last week, it is likely that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will merge with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). Although the EEOC is an independent agency and the OFCCP housed within the Department of Labor, the purview of both organizations overlap considerably. Both are charged with eliminating discrimination within the workplace – EEOC enforcing Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act (rooting out discrimination based on sex, religion, color and national origin) and OFCCP focused on the same enforcement along with sexual orientation and gender identity and federal contractor affirmative action obligations for minorities, women, disabled and veterans. Sounds redundant to me . . .
