On the question of minimum wage increases before the voters, there’s good news and bad news for you this week. First off, in Washington DC, the DC City Council, as expected, has taken its second and final vote officially repealing Initiative 77, passed by the voters back in June. The ballot measure not only mandated an increase in the DC minimum wage, but eliminated the tipped wage by 2026 as well. The order is now before Mayor Muriel Bowser who has indicated she will sign the repeal. In Arkansas, the Arkansas Supreme Court denied a challenge to the validity of signatures collected for Issue 5, a ballot question that seeks to increase the minimum wage in the Razorback State to $11/hour by 2021. With the blessing of the court, the question will be on the ballot in Arkansas on November 6.
