We advised you over the past several weeks of the 20 states in which a minimum wage increase became effective with the turn of the calendar and we want you to be aware of those and other changes. Consequently, we thought we’d advise you once more and run a complete list of minimum wage increases effective either December 31, 2018 or New Year’s Day, January 1, 2019. In addition, we would ask you to keep an eye on legislative activity within your own state as we can expect more initiatives being pushed to hike the minimum wage at the state and local levels across the country. Democratic-controlled legislatures in Illinois, New Mexico, New Jersey, Nevada and Vermont over the past two years have each passed minimum wage increases that were vetoed by republican governors. All of those states, except for Vermont, now have democratic governors who’ve expressed their willingness to sign minimum wage increases.
