The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) last week reported that the economy is still chugging along with 196,999 jobs added in March, a six-fold increase over the revised figure of 33,000 jobs created in February. Some economists read the dismal February numbers as an indication the economy was slowing, but the bounce back in March would seem to indicate otherwise. And in more good economic news, the National Restaurant Association released its State of the Industry Report earlier this week and projects the restaurant industry will grow to $863 billion in 2019! NRA also projects a total of 1.6 million new jobs will be created within the restaurant industry throughout this year, but with job growth remaining so strong, staffing will continue to present severe problems.
