Thanks to a gift of $1.5 million from franchise businessman Ray Titus, Palm Beach Atlantic University will now offer a Franchising Program at the Titus Franchising Center on its Florida campus. Titus is the founder of Florida-based United Franchise Group, with over 1400 units across 80 countries. The program will include academic courses relating to franchising as well as standard accounting, finance, management and marketing courses all with a focus on the franchising business model. For the broader restaurant industry, it was a bit of a double-whammy in March, according to the Restaurant Industry Snapshot report by Black Box Intelligence. Their data indicated that same store sales had declined 0.7 percent in March and that traffic had dropped 2.4 percent in Q1. With the good weather here, one would hope that things will improve significantly moving forward.
