Impressive numbers for Dunkin’ coming out of the Big Apple this past week when the Center for an Urban Future released its annual State of the Chains Report showing a total of 596 Dunkin’ Donut shops operating in the five boroughs of New York City.  It was pointed out that number was more than the total Starbucks, McDonald’s and Papa John’s, combined!  Peets Coffee announced plans this week to build a new 175,000 square foot Roastery in Virginia to complement the its Alameda, California Roastery, which currently handles all of the company’s production.  The new facility will create 135 jobs. Lastly, allow me to offer our congratulations to the Nations Restaurant News (NRN) on its 50-year anniversary providing news and information to all sectors of the restaurant industry since it began operations in 1966!  Well done!
