One of the bigger news items this week was the $1.8 Billion acquisition of Popeyes by Tim Horton’s and Burger King parent, Restaurant Brands International. That announcement was followed shortly thereafter by another confirming that the acquisition was being investigated for possible breaches of fiduciary duty! Notwithstanding, both of those items have received plenty of news coverage from major media. This week, we noted an announcement by McDonalds that they were cutting their beverage prices in the hope of increasing sagging sales. Shifting our focus to small business, American City Business Journals released its new Small Business Vitality report ranking the cities with the most small businesses across the country regardless of the size of the municipality. In addition, the report identified those cities with the greatest number of small businesses per capita.
