For 15 years, the state of Delaware has been annually rated the undisputed champion as relates the legal climate for businesses, but its reign has apparently come to an abrupt halt. According to the Lawsuit Climate Survey by the US Chamber of Commerce Institute of Legal for Legal Reform, released earlier this week, South Dakota now sits at the top of the “lawsuit climate” heap, followed by Vermont, Idaho, Minnesota and New Hampshire with Delaware knocked out of the top 10 all the way down to 11. When the measure is changed to economic development, the results change rather dramatically. The business publication, Area Development released its annual ranking of The Best States for Doing Business with the south dominating the top rankings: Georgia topped the list followed by South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana.
