In the face of serious labor shortages affecting many industries, but especially fast food establishments, the economy added 261,000 jobs in October, a good number, but still less than the 310,000 projected for the month. There was much chatter last week about JAB Holdings again looking at buying Dunkin Brands, but that chatter died down this week when the privately-owned Luxemborg giant gobbled up Au Bon Pain instead. JAB Holdings owns Panera, Krispy Kreme, Peet’s Coffee & Tea and a host of other companies.
