Small business optimism has reached its highest level since 1983, when Ronald Reagan was President – almost 35 years ago. Earlier this week, the National Federation of Independent Business released its annual Small Business Optimism Survey showing that all but 2 of the 10 measurement components improved over the last month and that a full 48% of the respondents expect better business conditions to come over the next t6 months as well.  Customer perception in the wake of a slew of bad public relations more than the business owner’s confidence seems to be the latest problem for Subway as traffic is down over 20% over the past 5 years across the brand. In the face of a revolt from its franchisees, the company has pledged to boost its marketing efforts and bring back the popular $5 foot-long!
