It is ironic at a minimum that The Coffee Shop, an iconic restaurant in New York’s Union Square, announced in July that it would be closing permanently. The aforementioned Democratic Socialist congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez worked in the establishment before winning the democratic primary in June. The owner cited increasing rents and the $15 NYC minimum wage as the reason for his business’ demise. Venezuela, by the way which is the epitome of a socialist government, announced plans last month to increase the national minimum wage in the South American country by 3000 percent in order to combat out of control inflation! Once again, watch out what you ask for . . .
